gdgt Rules!
July 1, 2009
gdgt (pronounced like gadget, but I say g-d-g-t) is a new kind of social networking site, created by Ryan Block and Peter Rojas (the guys behind Engadget and Gizmodo). You just have three groups of gadgets, the ones you have, the ones you want, and the ones you had, which I think is really cool, since I’ve never seen any website have a “had” option. There’s also a forum-like thingy for each gadget, which is also really different. I’ve seen user reviews, but never discussions about it. There’s also, obviously, an option to review any product. I also like how organized all of the gadgets are. You can search by company, or by category and further into subcategories. I also like how it’s all user-generated content; if you don’t see a gadget that you have, then you just submit it and it gets sent to be reviewed. The one thing that I don’t like, which is probably in the process of being created, is that there is no notification after you submit a gadget that it has been reviewed and okay’d, so you have to go searching back for it, if you don’t forget about it.
It was just made public today after a long 12 months of speculation. It’s fun, so join now! And friend me!
Oh and whoever registered the username “nick” and didn’t use it, thanks.
